Barbell 300 lb Olympic Weight Set Best Price & Review : By Dan USA
I recently purchased this set to add an addition to my current standard barbell and plates that I have had and used for years. As they are described, the plates are decent but are of a rough cast, with some of the larger plates I received having retained slightly raised semi-sharp casting remnants left on the edges of the plates from their production. The larger plates I received have the raised painted silver York lettering, but the smaller 10′s, 5′s, and 2.5′s have only the unpainted raised black York lettering.

This may be one explanation as to what they mean when they say that a “slight variation in color is possible” in the product description. The barbell itself is of good quality. It is a “real” 45lb. olympic barbell. Some lower quality olympic sets substitute an inferior 35lb. barbell, so this is something to consider when purchasing an olympic set. York claims this barbell has a 700lb. test rating. If that is the case, then this barbell would most likely be fine for most home lifters.

The knurling on the barbell is smooth, not jagged, and overall feels decent. I believe this is a good deal for a quality rugged olympic set, especially for the current price of around $300 with free shipping included. I have seen other sets advertised that cost way more, and for what most non-commercial users would need/want out of an olympic set, this is most likely among the best deals currently available for the money. I would just like to add that I have since discovered the reason I believe my smaller plates are unpainted. The reason I believe this to be is because I received with my set the better York Legacy olympic plates.

These plates are supposedly milled to within 2% accuracy of their indicated weight listing on the plate. The image given for the York 300lb. Olympic weight set shows the plates as being the regular York International olympic plates. These are supposedly not as accurate or cost as much as York’s Legacy line of olympic plates. This being said, I do not know if most ordering this set wind up with the regular York International olympic plates which are shown in the image, or wether or not they receive the better York Legacy ones.

PowerBlock Elite Dumbbells Price & Review : I love these dumbells!

Previously, I had gotten the Weider Core Adjustable Dumbell set, which stuck quite a bit and required a lot of maneuvering to use. I returned them and promptly bought a set of Powerblocks. I got a fantastic deal, in which I got the two kits required to go from 5-90 lbs and the heavy duty stand for 619.00.

They came packaged in four boxes, two for each dumbbell, the first and second kit. Some weight kits (ahem weider core) come in one single box which will require your poor petite female delivery person to work hard for her money. Barely any assembly was required and they were ready to use.

Adjusting the dumbbells is easy. Ridiculously easy. You figure out what color corresponds to the weight you would like to select and you place the pin along that bar. It’s difficult to place the pin unevenly, so you wont make that mistake unless you’re trying.

The grips are ridiculously comfortable. There’s no need for gloves at all, they feel so good. I still like wearing wrist wraps because my wrists are pitifully weak. You don’t have to make huge adjustments for the size of them like you do with the selecttech (I don’t own a set, but I have used them) because the dumbbell size is only as large as the weight you are lifting due to the set up being almost like nesting boxes. So a 5 lb dumbbell is about the size of a 5 lb dumbbell, just box shaped, unlike the selecttech where a 5 lb dumbbell is the same size (or at least length) as a 90 lb dumbbell.

I’m not using them at the higher weights (as I am a lady builder, and just recovering from a back injury) but I do know they would be a bit bulky at 90 lbs- it would require a bit of adjusting to get used to for certain movements.

If you want to use increment weights you have to take the handle out of the surrounding plates. Personally, it doesn’t seem worth it to me, since I wont get that small of an adjustment in the gym unless I’m in the very low weights.

All in all, I love them for their value and how little space they take up in my small, pet filled home. I love that they’re right there which means I don’t have to go to the gym for a decent weight lifting session. They also would work spectacularly well for p90x or any other DVD routine that includes dumbbell based weight lifting.

Bowflex 552 Dumbbells Pair Review: Very versatile and easy to adjust from one weight to another. Much faster than trying to use other adjustable barbells. I also love the 2.5 lb increments unlike others that have 10 lb increment adjustments. They cost more but are definitely worth it.

Bowflex Bench 5.1 Sale Price & Review Assuming you are reasonably intelligent and patient, this bench is perfect. I took my time when assembling everything and made sure to tighten the bench symmetrically. That being said… I have re-tightened the bench twice in the first year and so far I have ZERO complaints. Very impressive screen size.
Great for watching sports, HD movies.
Picture quality varies alot depending on the source etc.
Some shows look really good, and others not so much.
The picture quality is not that good for dark scenes.
The screen is very reflective. So, you must watch in a dark or low lit room. No direct light on the TV!!
I have black out shades on my windows, and it works out well.
The sound system is ok, not great. I have my own surround sound system. I recommend getting your own sound system.
You need at least 10-12 ft distance between you and the TV.
